In anticipation of the shortage of long-range transportation truck drivers, Japan Post is engaging in a modal shift by replacing mail transportation by trucks with transportation by rail or ship as eco-friendly means that enable mass transportation.

Joint trunk transport using the Super Full Trailers

The Tokyo Route Truck Conference Association and four companies, Seino Transportation Co., Ltd., Nippon Express Co., Ltd., Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. and Japan Post, jointly transport cargo using the Super Full Trailer SF25 (SF25), a 25-meter-long articulated heavy goods vehicle.

Initiatives to reduce redelivery

Improving the Yu-Pack service so that customers can send and receive mail and parcels from places near them, Japan Post is trying to reduce CO₂ emissions by decreasing redelivery by enhancing the convenience of Yu-Pack.

Driving in consideration of the environment and safety

The Japan Post Group is trying to reduce CO₂ emissions by ensuring environmentally friendly gentle driving to prevent traffic accidents and reduce fuel consumption.

Japan Post recommends ways of driving that care for the environment and safety, such as the use of engine braking, checking vehicles before driving (checking tire pressure to prevent reduced fuel efficiency), and the use of idle-stop systems, calling the style of driving "Eco Anzen Drive (driving green and safely)."

Performance of the electricity sales business including solar power generation

To preserve the global environment by promoting the introduction of renewable energy and reducing CO₂ emissions, Japan Post commenced the electricity sales business based on solar power generation in 2014 and sells generated power to electric power companies.
