Partnerships with local public organizations

Japan Post concluded many different agreements with local public organizations to solve regional problems using postal networks.

Providing administrative services at post offices

At some post office counters, Japan Post issues certificates such as copies of family registers and resident cards, sells public commuter bus tickets and engages in other operations outsourced from local public organizations.

Improved guidance for non-Japanese customers

Japan Post has nearly 20,000 post offices around the country, with tablets that have a multilingual translation app installed on them, aiming to ensure that non-Japanese customers can feel at ease when using the post office.

The Japan Post Bank website provides services in 16 languages to customers wishing to open a bank account, enabling them to fill out application documents using a computer, etc. at home before they visit the bank.

Introduction of small ATMs that can be used in 16 languages

Since January 2017, Japan Post Bank has introduced smaller ATMs that can be installed even in narrow spaces. These ATMs have gradually been made available at FamilyMart and other similar spaces around the country. To meet the growing needs of non-Japanese inbound tourists, the small ATMs are also equipped with functions such as being usable in 16 different languages* to withdraw cash using a card issued overseas.

* The small ATMs can be used in 16 languages:
Japanese, English, simplified and traditional Chinese, Korean, Thai, Malay, Filipino, Indonesian, Vietnamese, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian and Arabic.

Supporting the expansion of sales channels for local produce in Japan

Japan Post accepts orders for Japanese local produce by placing catalogues and leaflets at post office counters around the country.
Fresh produce, handicrafts and other local products are sent to customers directly from the places they are produced. In this way, we support the revitalization of regional economies.

To support the independence of people with disabilities, Japan Post Bank offers amazingly talented artists with disabilities opportunities to showcase their work.
